2GB USB made with Fedora-USB-Creator(Windows and Fedora 11 GNOME with 609 Persistence file.

  Fedora 10.92/ 0.84.2 Sugar.

EeePC 900 /log in live user account/connect wireless/(DO NOT SAVE LOGIN TO KEYCHAIN)/Add Software/Packages/Sugar Desktop: install.

  • You need to create a New User (sugar) in user manager and log out, switch users, and log in to this New user(sugar). Then you can start sugar desktop with a connection. When you log out you are returned to Full Fedora Gnome desktop live user without need to reboot. You can shut down the system from here. (see note below)
  • Under Network Panel: "Collaboration". cannot change jabber address. (Tip Use sugar-control-panel command from terminal to see/change jabber servers.)
  • In Sugar Desktop you can see others on the jabber server. Connect to IRC ,Browse, and (chat both locally and via Jabber).

NOTE: If you log into sugar from live user account and then reboot to Gnome using the switcher bar ,eventually the network manager goes missing and it pulses and cannot connect to wireless in sugar.

!!!You MUST use "Logout" to exit sugar session as "Shutdown" and "restart" options will hang the system.

++I did a net install to the hard disk on a hp e-pc (wired connection 1200 celeron )following the same procedure: Fedora 11 beta + sugar Desktop. This works very well and I just did a chat with ASH in Europe while connected to my EeePC on a USB Soas-Beta. I WAS NOT USING A LIVE USER ACCOUNT

++the Hp e-pc was wired, the EeePC was wireless on my network on an apple airport extreeme plus presence service hit the net. All 3 could connect and chat.

The BUG of loosing the network manager does not seem to appear in a real installation of sugar in F11b. May be due to problems with using the live user account on the SD card with the sugar desktop and wireless network manager

Problems:

  • USB/SD Gets corrupted if do an system update
  • Install to Hard Disk Icon cannot be deleted permanently - DANGER can affect guest computer installation if used.
  • Must add user for SUGAR Access or will corrupt Network manager when switching between Gnome and Sugar Desktops.
  • Hangup of system if "Logout" not used to return to Gnome (Live user user) from SUGAR Desktop SUGAR (user) before shutting down of system
