My motivation is simple. Sugar should stay relevant and usable as time marches on. That means maintaining code we already have, modernizing where it's needed, and bringing in current technologies like LLMs, computer vision models, TTS, etc. without losing sight of the original education mission. I want Sugar to grow into the next decade instead of aging out of it.

My vision is where new contributors can onboard easily, understand the stack, and ship improvements we need without friction. OLPC users and students relying on Sugar shouldn't be left behind as the world moves forward. If we want Sugar to matter ten years from now, we have to rebuild some of it today. My goal is to help Sugar Labs evolve, by strengthening it so it lasts.

While I would love to see some of the newer contributors join the ranks of our oversight board, I also think it is important to have some continuity -- to help ground Sugar Labs to the pedagogy that motivated its founding in 2008. I continue to learn as a member of this learning organization and, while some family issues have precluded my full engagement over the past few months, things are looking up for 2026/2027.

I will focus on supporting and expanding the opportunities we provide for mentorship; more outreach -- perhaps the first ever Sugar/Music Blocks "DemoScene"; and help move our technical stack into the 2020s.

==== Attendees ====
Devin Ulibarri, Sumit Srivastava, Sebastian Silva, MostlyK

==== Conference Discussion ====
Sumit asked if travel costs for the DMP India conference could be covered .
Devin said Sugar Labs has around $5000, with $2000 yearly expenses so funds are tight.
They agreed to decline unless travel and stay are sponsored.
MostlyK shared that GNOME is sponsoring his GTK4 talk at GNOME Asia.

==== Elections ====
Elections are delayed.
Safwan has offered help but Devin needs to adjust user permissions on the wiki to delegate properly.
Ibiam may know how to update them on the wiki.

==== AWS Report ====
AWS is stable. Around $5.5k in credits remain until July 2026.
MostlyK and Mebin plan to add central authentication post exams.
Team discussed around reaching out to a dedicated AI provider for better models.
MostlyK will list providers like Gemini and Hugging Face.
Sumit shared Logan Kilpatrick’s contact for Gemini sponsorship.

==== Sugar Systems ====
Sebastian’s email alias failed, causing loss of somosazucar.org renewal.
The domain expired and is going to auction. Sebastian will personally bid to recover it.
Sumit suggested Cloudflare for reliability.
Devin noted Sunjammer is out of space, affecting email and lists.
They agreed to move to Google Workspace (already available free).
Sebastian will help with migration.

==== Sustainability ====
Sumit said revenue generation is key to solving recurring issues that we are facing right now.
Devin agreed, emphasizing the need for planned system transitions and sustainability.

Suggestion was to approach improvement in stages, focusing on systems that we can maintain well.

=== AWS discussion ===

MostlyK and Ibiam merged Sugar-AI and tried running an instances for it but our blocker was Amazon as of now because our G spot and on-demand request got denied. AWS is not a viable long-term solution for us.
Om Santosh will deploy his app on AWS.
Mebin is running on Azure for the time being.
Maybe we should buy a GPU? But where would we host it and who would maintain it?

=== Sunjammer and server infra ===

Too much down time, but we don't know why.
ACTION: We need a plan to both understand the issues and come up with a realistic path to maintenance.
Tip of the hat to FSF.

=== DNS update ===

We moved to CloudFare to increase reliable uptime.
=== Krish ===

Walter can you make any commit on this repo so I can fork it and update the work decided after the meet with Juan and Ibiam.

Ideas from that meet (copied from the element room):
Two shared libraries will be created from scratch:

* one for C objects and reusable GTK widgets
* one for Python widgets and wrappers
* Each will be developed and tested in its own repository with simple Python example scripts to validate usage and encourage modular, incremental development.

Meson's shared library template from GNOME Builder can be used as the base for setting up both libraries.

The separation helps maintain clear boundaries between C and Python components, makes debugging and CI easier

Next steps:

I will set up the C repo scaffold with Meson
I will set up the Python-side wrapper or extension (likely using ctypes or cffi)
regroup once scaffolds are working, and add minimal working examples to test flow

=== Muhammad ===
Sugar AI API -- demonstrated an API interface test

Devin: We can 0Auth with Google Workspace, if we want.

Discussion: I would love some feedback on the image feature for https://mbassistant.streamlit.app/. Now it can assist with not so complex images and tell the users what exactly to do. We can potentially change from 2.0 flash to gemma which is OS model and performs better than 2.0-flash.

Response: From what I understand this portal is for people testing SugarAI so they can test out the service, correct? But I read somewhere that you also have this has a docker container? So wouldn't it just make sense to provide the docker image so they can test it out themselves?

Cont. It is a docker container. The container opens up the end points.

The current docker config:
You can run the docker image it will open /ask, /ask-llm (rag and without-rag query) to the LLM. Not Secured so any requests get passed through.

This Updated System:
Opens the same end-points but it doesn't give out results without authentication.
So we have 1- Admin Login Page
2 - Contributors Request Page
3- Admin Management Page at the same ip:8000/request-keys, /admin-login,/admin.
Their Keys are stored in sql database and are encrypted and can always be deactivated.

So this provides this layer of security that we really need because if someone finds out our end-points they can exploit it very easily.
Response: If there are two arguments to draw arc, there should be [two arrrows]. (It kind of has infix and prefix mixed here.) [...] "Angle = 360/60 and Radius = 100." Probably anything from number palette should be inline.
LLM generates a whole entire conversation instead of just answering the question - this is cause of the way the dataset is structured currently.

Solution: re-structure the dataset and train again
