New page

= Oct 28 Meeting =

== Attending ==
* Walter Bender (SL Inc. board)
* MostlyK (SL Inc. board)
* Sumit Srivastava (SL Inc. board)
* Devin Ulibarri (SL Inc. board)

=== Absent ===
* Sebastian Silva (SL Inc. board)
* Samson Goddy (SL Inc. board)

== Agenda ==
* Election
* AI/AWS update

=== Election ===

Safwan posted election news here: https://buttondown.com/sugarlabs/archive/fall-board-elections-how-to-participate-8780/

=== AI/AWS ===
On AWS, MostlyK setup an EC2 machine and we now run ai.sugarlabs.org with Bedrock keys without data retention, using Luna for now, but open to switching to any other cheap models that do good.

EC2 is t4g.medium, runs both AI backends(https://github.com/sugarlabs/mb-server-ai/, https://github.com/sugarlabs/sugar-ai)

Sugar-AI is back at ai.sugarlabs.org

Our expected cost per month is 30 dollars with this setup, gives us other credits to run some experiments if we wish too

AI Module used by Sugar Activities. Contribute to sugarlabs/sugar-ai development by creating an account on GitHub.

https://sugarlabs.github.io/musicblocks and https://musicblocks.sugarlabs.org/ both Run AI Debugger (Chat + Edit) and Reflection Widgets now!

Rough spend breakdown is:

* server is about 25 dollars per month
* storage (20gb) about 2 dollars per month
* public ip cost is about 3-4 dollars
* GPT-6 Luna for the widgets about $20-30

Our average request is about:

* Input (instructions, block reference, project, chat): about 10k tokens which are priced at $0.11 per million which comes to $0.0011
* Output (the reply or project): about 800-2000 tokens which are priced at $0.55 per milliong which comes to $0.0004
* Around about $0.0015 for a singualr exchange!

If we assume, one class (30 students x 10 exchanges) -> 300 exchanges, it comes to $20 dollars a month

We have a cap for now at 500 exchanges so maximum Luna cost would be $45. Theoratically we would not be crossing $75 a month with the new setup
