New page

I ([[User:Fran Rogers|Fran Rogers]]) am just getting started with Sugar development, and after getting used to my XO-1, one personal itch I'm interested in scratching is creating a Sugar activity for [http://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/ GNU Emacs] for developers and power users (not for the kids, of course!).

Right now you can install emacs via yum and run it in the Terminal activity, but it's a bit clunky. It'd be nice to have a Sugar wrapper around Emacs's GTK frontend, so you'd get nice features like better mouse support, GUI widgets, images, etc. It should also be straightforward to map instances of the activity in the Journal to Emacs desktop-save-mode sessions.
