New page

== Configuration is a job we have to do when we first install a new operating system. ==

In this context configuration means "the arrangement of the parts of Sugar".

In Sugar most of this has been done for us. You can start to explore as soon as you like, but it is a good thing to learn the steps we take to configure our system. This way we won't be intimidated when we come to configure the next operating system we meet.

In the Sugar Activity Browse or Surf you can make these configuration changes '''while''' you are still reading this.

Press the Function key F4. What Happened?

Nothing, F4 brings you back to the Activity you were last working on.

If you now press F3 you will leave me, you will come back by pressing F4. Try it.

Next, press F3 and follow these instructions to change the keyboard layout.

Sugar on a Stick uses by default the ''English (USA)'' keyboard layout.

#To change this, you need to right click the http://wiki.laptop.org/images/b/ba/Xo_s.png Learner icon and click on 'My Settings'
#From the My Settings control panel you will see a 'Keyboard' control tool that will allow you to change the default keyboard layout.

Explore the other configuration changes that you may make on this panel.
: It is interesting to explore the changes you can make in 'Frame'.
