The download is a CD-ROM disc image .iso file (380 MiB), which could be burned to a blank CD, and booted as a Live CD to demonstrate Sugar (while no work or changes will be saved after shutdown). When the image is loaded to a USB storage device, it can be used to boot a computer into the Sugar environment and save one's work on the USB key without touching the computer's hard disc.

Confirming a proper download
A SHA hash is used to determine if the file downloaded properly. The SHA1SUM hash only for the Strawberry release is:
41b08c93a65cc1e38286b9f8980f51528a36761d
You can check the SHA1SUM from the GNU/Linux shell:
sha1sum soas-1-strawberry.iso
If the hash matches the number above, then you can be reasonably sure that the file downloaded properly. You can check out a video demonstrating the process here: [1]
