Deja-dup Backup

deja-dup is a nice way to graphically backup your soas live USB/SD


Déjà Dup is a simple backup tool. It hides the complexity of doing backups the 'right way' (encrypted, off-site, and regular) and uses duplicity as the backend.

Features:

• Support for local or remote backup locations, including Amazon S3
• Securely encrypts and compresses your data
• Incrementally backs up, letting you restore from any particular backup
• Schedules regular backups
• Integrates well into your GNOME desktop

Installation

PC running from booted soas v3 Mirabelle USB:

In sugar-terminal:

su
yum install duplicity deja-dup

How to USE to Backup Your Soas v3 Mirabelle USB

PC running from booted soas v3 Mirabelle USB:

  • Insert 2nd USB
  • sugar-terminal
deja-dup
  • Graphical Application starts

Initial Configuration

  • edit/Preferences
  • Backup location: other / places /<your 2nd usb> <open>
  • Include files in folders ( Home folder is selected) /Add / File system /mnt/live <Open>
  • Close

Backup

  • sugar-terminal
deja-dup
  • Graphical Application starts
  • Backup


Restore to new Soas live USB

  • In sugar-terminal:
su
yum install duplicity deja-dup
  • repeat Initial configuration (listed above)
  • Insert 2nd usb with backup done previosly
  • sugar-terminal
deja-dup
  • Graphical Application starts
  • Restore


Notes

  • Backs up /usr/share/sugar/activities and /home/liveuser/Activities
  • Backs up and restores
 LiveOS and syslinux directories
 (Overlay-live-xxx (persistence) OSmin.img Squashfs.img files
  • Does Not backup journal or f 2 favorites
  • Can be sugarized [1]
