It is indeed the same beastie: Under [http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid-updates/utils/mtd-tools 8.10 (Intrepid)] it is known as '''mtd-utils'''. However, under [http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/mtd-tools Hardy (and earlier releases)] it is known as '''mdt-tools'''.
