From Sugar Labs

Statement of Interest for Sugar Labs Board of Directors by Elvis Udaigwe

I, Elvis, am applying to join the Board of Directors of Sugar Labs because I care deeply about giving children the chance to explore, create, and learn through technology. From a young age, I was curious and eager to understand how things work. I was fortunate to have opportunities to develop those interests, which led me to software development, data analysis, and project management, and later to mentoring others.

As a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), I have led projects from start to finish, developed strategies, launched initiatives, and worked closely with stakeholders to achieve results. My experience as a data analyst has helped me turn information into insights that support smart decision-making, a skill I see as useful for guiding Sugar Labs’ programs and growth.

I have also had the privilege of mentoring young Africans through the Google Africa Developer Scholarship program, helping them gain practical skills and confidence in technology. Alongside this, I have built multiple Generative AI agents, exploring ways technology can enhance learning and creativity.

Sugar Labs’ mission to make learning hands-on, collaborative, and fun resonates with me. I would be honored to bring my experience in technology, mentorship, and strategic planning to the board, supporting programs, initiatives, and partnerships that help children everywhere discover their potential and build the skills they need for the future.
