Please maintain these pages

Note: The Emulator image files page is meant to be a brief index to recommended, downloadable images--not a discussion page for their use or features. For experimental images, please refer readers to the appropriate software page elsewhere.

When entering alternate installations and experimental images on the appropriate pages: please try to organize and integrate the page for the new reader.

  • Sort the information for readers from beginner to advanced.
  • Delete information that is out of date or, if it is significant, link to it on an historical page.
  • If you have entered information, please don't abandon it to the confusion of others. Please use your experience to organize and maintain the information so others can rapidly reach a higher level of understanding of the subject matter.

Discussion

  • I do not know how to move the emulator Image Files and where to place them. There are a lot of users who rely on the Pre-built Appliances for Virtual Box. Would they be listed (linked) in SCK at all or have a left column Projects Heading? --Satellit 15:24, 4 June 2012 (EDT)
    • The suggestion is to prioritize and segregate the information. That is, after the introductory information, list first your top recommendation for a released and stable Sugar or Sucrose image and give brief instructions for obtaining and installing it. Then refer to alternate, highly recommended images.
    • Link to more detailed information on the images and their use, which should appear as subsections or sub-pages to the appropriate Community/Distributions page, where an interested reader might consider testing with an appliance before deciding on a full installation.
    • Move all outdated and experimental image links and information to 'Older versions' subsections (and for the older experimental ones, first move them to a subsection, save the page, then delete the old versions from that subsection, save again [it's now in the page history]. If you really want to point to it on a current page, you can open the historical page and copy its URI address and use it as a link. This is only appropriate for 'static' information as historical pages cannot be edited without making them current. New discussion about historical pages should take place on a 'Discuss older versions' section of the parent's Talk page.)
    • For the Sugar Creation Kit, you may want to include the top recommendation image files in the DVD copy and copies of this page and selected distribution subsections. The online or wiki version need only link to this page as the Downloads and Supported systems pages do. --FGrose 08:10, 6 June 2012 (EDT)
