== Dear community, ==
During my previous term as a board member, I have learned many things. Some have caused me joy, some frustration.
For example, I have expressed my disagreement with the forced disaffiliation of our local labs, which happened to make Sugar Labs fit the model of the Software Freedom Conservancy (which operates only in the U.S.). I think this needs to be corrected somehow.
I'd like Sugar Labs to be more than what it is now.
In its current state, Sugar Labs is a warm-water lake, which is unable to sustain life for a complex ecosystem of multiple learning paradigms, hardware manufacturers, service providers, developers, and all types of learners and mentors.
From the board, I would like to help build a more robust Sugar Labs that is more independent, supporting emerging projects by activators who might find in Sugar Labs backing and a home.
To mention some joys: Thanks to Sugar Labs I have had the opportunity to meet some of you in person. I could dedicate myself to work to meet the [http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/User:Sebastian/Oversight_Board_Election_2010 proposals expressed in my previous application]. Today we have a Beta version of the [http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=es-419&ie=UTF-8&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fpe.sugarlabs.org%2Fgo%2FRed_Az%25C3%25BAcar Sugar Network], a comprehensive solution to the problems observed in field support throughout the South.
I am so convinced of the need to create opportunities for collaboration between developers and users, that I've spent over a year working alongside the Platform team, in implementing this unified system, designed to get feedback from users, standardize metrics capture and facilitate the distribution of updated content and software.
We have now reached Beta stage, needing all the community support for expansion and massive appropriation from 2013.
