** Styles is what separates an effective user of a desktop editing program from the casual user. Anybody having to write something longer than 1/2 a page NEEDS to become an effective user. Essential for high school work, college, any professional document. The default of most software is NOT to focus on styles, thus children and all ages learn setting fonts, sizes, bold, etc, and thus learn wrong. Write is no exception. People who learn wrong need to unlearn before they are able to learn it right. However, if the user clicks in the edit window, the previously selected text is deselected and no color applied. Clicking anywhere on the toolbar applies the color and leaves the text selected. It has been suggested in [http://www.mail-archive.com/sugar-devel@lists.sugarlabs.org/msg08918.html mailing list thread] that adding 'OK' and 'Cancel' buttons, as in the color palette in Paint, would solve this problem.
