GSoC+DMP
Devin had feedback regarding the weekly reports (https://www.sugarlabs.org/news/developer-news):
- GIT -- not creating a new branch before creating PR
- GIT -- not sufficient detail in commit message
- Review -- not reviewing work before raising a PR (e.g. image not loading)
- Consistency -- review naming conventions we are using and adapt to those
- Editing -- Check for grammar and spelling
- Other -- It's nice to add some images every once in a while
Highlights
AWS Updates
- Krish has updated everyone's policy from System Admin to EC2 Full Access, which will give them enough permission to launch instances for their work. (This only applies to IAM users and not root users which are the ones that were created from their own gmail and not AWS ID.)
- Krish will be adding an extra policy in the EC2 Group that can he assigned to new users.
- Krish kept Mebin, Sumit as System Adminstrators.
- He is working on proper documentation.
- Mostly we will use ml.XX, t.XX size instances and if need be G. (This will require different permissions.)
- There are 2 groups: EC2 Group (with EC2 Full Access policy) and Sys Admins (with Sys Admin policy)
icarito has been pondering if Sugar Desktop could be an MCP-native environment, e.g. provide hooks for "agents" - do any of the AI projects go in this direction?
A "society of agents" a la Minsky would be a nice way to think about the AI projects this summer. They all are in orbit around similar goals.
Cloudflare proxy
Sumit raised the possibility of setting up a CDN for the wiki.
Mebin will investigate.
Other news
icarito will be giving a talk "Technology of Opression, Software of Liberation".
