Detailed Description

We need to make Sugar run Metacity instead of Matchbox, change the shell to maximize activity windows, correct those activities that are setting incorrectly their window size and configure Metacity so works well along the Sugar shell.

Benefit to Sugar

Sugar uses presently Matchbox, a window manager designed for small devices that run all applications maximized. Sugar can run in devices with bigger screens and some applications break when run in Matchbox. Using Metacity instead means that some unsugarized apps would run better inside Sugar and that Sugar activities would behave better when run outside Sugar.

Scope

Affects the Sugar shell, some activities will need to be fixed and Sugar packagers will need to reflect this change in their packages.

How To Test

Features/Metacity/Testing

Run Sugar with several activities and check that the user experience is the same regarding window management as 0.84, except for non-sugarized applications, which should be fully usable regardless of the number of windows they open.

User Experience

The user shouldn't notice any change when running Sugar with any activities. When running an application such as Gimp, windows will have decorations and will have reasonable sizes.

Dependencies

Metacity.

Contingency Plan

None necessary, revert to previous release behaviour.
