Here's the next milestone on the way to Mageia 2 - alpha 2 ISO images are ready for download.
Major new features: ships with the latest stable release of the kernel 3.1 with support for improved virtualisation with Xen native support,
improved performances and new subsystem such as a new iSCSI stack or NFC, and better security with the Tomoyo framework;
latest stable glibc 2.14.1; Systemd for booting; with KDE 4.7.4 with the target of reaching 4.8.x for final release;
GNOME 3.3.3 with the target of reaching 3.4.x for final release; up-to-date LXDE packages, including PCManFM 0.0.10; Sugar 0.95 is in the repository.....

Run from Education/Sugar

• Install Mageia-2-alpha3-i586-DVD.iso

Boot Live CD

Use Live Installer (Drakelive-install)

Use whole Disk

• Choose Gnome
• Boots to Login Screen Gnome is default
• GNOME 3.3.5 (after updates) see below
• Session..

• Fallback mode Gnome3 (after updates GNOME3 shell runs correctly)

Update Mageia

• Magia Control Center (Drakconf.real)
• Configure media sources for install and update

Click Add

Apply

• (Task-sugar 0.95.1 will not install due to missing dependencies)

(Individual items in sugar are no longer displayed here)

• Exit Magia Control Center

Workaround for task sugar

• Enter terminal

su
password
'urpmi task-sugar --allow-force
installs 64 rpms

• start sugar-emulator with: Applications/Education/Sugar
• Drag sugar ICON from favorites to desktop

properties sugar-emulator -f (full screen)

• jabber.sugarlabs.org works
• Wireless AP's show and log in; Ad-Hoc AP's show in f1 network neighborhood
• Uses keyring to access sugar

• NO browser is a problem.

the applications Browse and Surf-115 have missing dependencies (see above) and do not start.

Firefox-6.xo works if installed

But does not save to the sugar-journal as it is not properly "sugarized" (integrated into sugar)
