Backup-Restore files from the sugar-journal with a 2nd USB-stick

This works from a Live CD:
Backup stores the content of the Sugar Journal (or rather the Sugar data store)
as multi-entry Journal entry bundles (JEBs) on external storage media.
The Restore activity can be used to write back the content of these bundles.
Supports any data store from 0.84 on, including those with version support.
  • Click on backup
Backup Completes
  • Restore:
click on the 2nd USB-stick

Save individual files from the sugar-journal to a 2nd USB-stick

  • Simple Archive of student/teachers files from the Sugar Journal
Rename the saved activity file:
(>) right arrow on right edge of the journal entry and (___rename_it_________)
(<) Back
Drag-drop this file from the journal to the USB stick
  • Also Drag Drop the Activity.xo file, that produced this file, to the 2nd USB Stick - if it was not on the live CD when you started it up.
this only has to be done one time for each Activity.xo that you installed from ASLO: Activities

Access the saved file on the 2nd USB-stick

  • This works after reboot of Live CD:
  • Drag Drop the Saved Activity.xo files on the 2nd USB-stick to the Journal ( install it) - If it was not included on the Live CD installed applications
  • To access the Journal Activity file; click on it on the 2nd USB

Clean Up the Sugar Journal

  • It is smart to not overload a XO-1 Disk space or Live CD Memory.
Do this process periodically:
  • From the sugar-journal:
click on the (>) on the right side of the entry. - (The edit screen)
hit the (-) button on the top edge of edit screen frame
Entry is erased
  • This Process can be used to clean out the sugar-journal one line at a time.
Erases both application entries and installed application.xo files.
  • Also works on a listing of files on a 2nd USB-stick. Be Careful.
